Sailing Adventure through the Saronic Gulf: Olives & Gastronomy
October 11-18, 2025

There’s a special kind of magic to sailing the Greek islands in October. The summer crowds have drifted away, the Aegean remains warm and inviting, and the markets brim with the season’s freshest olives, golden honey, and local wines. It’s a quieter, more authentic time, when island life slows to its natural rhythm and traditions take center stage. We’ll experience the start of the olive harvest firsthand, learning about the age-old process and the importance of this treasured fruit in Greek culture.

At Joyride Charters, we’ve been sailing these waters for years, forging friendships with beekeepers, winemakers, and taverna owners along the way. This trip is designed for solo travelers, young in spirt seniors, couples and ANYONE who appreciate good food, easy camaraderie, and meaningful experiences off the beaten path.

Sailing aboard a spacious 50-foot luxury catamaran, you’ll explore Aegina, Spetses, Hydra, Poros, and more — savoring pistachios, olive oils, fresh seafood, and thyme-infused honeys. Days are spent swimming in quiet bays, discovering ancient temples, and sipping local wines at sunset.

Whether you come alone or with a friend, you’ll find a welcoming, easygoing atmosphere where everyone feels part of the crew. There’s no rush, no rigid schedule — just great company, unforgettable flavors, and the serene beauty of the Saronic Gulf in its most peaceful season.

We will have at least one zoom call to go over details and meet your fellow crew.

Our detailed Itinerary -

Day 1: Athens to Aegina

Welcome Aboard! Settle into your floating home for the week with a welcome drink and safety briefing before setting sail to nearby Aegina Town.

Evening: Stroll the charming harborfront lined with cafes and shops. Aegina is famous for its pistachios — don’t miss the pistachio pesto, brittle, and ice cream!

Dinner included: Our welcome feast at Aegina Yacht Club pairs fresh seafood and tender grilled meats with a glorious sunset over the water.

Day 2: Aegina to Ermioni

Morning: A leisurely breakfast aboard as we sail toward Ermioni, stopping for a swim in a quiet bay.

Afternoon: Dock in the postcard-perfect harbor of Ermioni. Take an easy walk around the peninsula’s pine-shaded park and lighthouse, with a stop for an iced espresso freddo along the way.

Dinner: Tzieris Taverna, a beloved family-run spot serving local specialties and fresh seafood.

Bonus included: The next morning, visit one of the region’s oldest bee farms, learning about the bees’ vital role in Greek culture and sampling their heavenly thyme and pine honeys, cheeses, and fresh bread — plus a sweet little jar to take home.

Day 3: Ermioni to Spetses

Morning: Early sail to Spetses with a midday swim and lunch on board.

Afternoon: E-bike through pine forests to the island’s historic olive groves, or unwind with a cold Greek beer at a harborside café. Beachcombers can hunt for sea glass treasures.

Dinner: Mourayo Restaurant — a waterfront gem in a 19th-century stone building that once served as a munitions storehouse during the Greek War of Independence. Enjoy modern Greek cuisine in a historic setting.

Day 4: Spetses to Hydra

Morning: Breakfast aboard, then set sail to car-free, donkey-loving Hydra.

Afternoon: Upon arrival, we’ve arranged a cozy wine and cheese tasting at a local spot.

Evening: Sunset drinks at Sunset Bar overlooking the Saronic before dining at Douskos Taverna — one of Hydra’s oldest, family-owned since the 1800s. Its namesake olive tree still shades the courtyard where Leonard Cohen famously strummed his guitar.

Day 5: Hydra to Poros

Morning: After breakfast, we cruise toward Poros with a possible swim stop en route.

Afternoon: Explore the Poros Olive Oil Press Museum and visit a nearby bee farm to taste thyme-infused honey.

Dinner: At Oasis Taverna, known for fresh seafood and estate-pressed olive oil dishes.

Day 6: Poros & Epidaurus

Morning: After breakfast, enjoy free time for shopping or a walk through town. Climb to the famed clock tower for a morning workout.

The next two experiences are also included in your charter adventure:

Midday: We journey inland to explore the breathtaking Epidaurus Amphitheater and the ancient healing sanctuary — a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Greece’s most remarkable historic treasures.

Afternoon: Visit the acclaimed Andreou Winery, where you’ll discover the rich traditions of local winemaking and savor generous tastings of their finest vintages, perfectly paired with artisanal cheeses from the region.

Evening: Return to Poros for a relaxed evening aboard or in town.

Day 7: Poros to Aegina & Return to Athens

Morning: Leisurely breakfast before sailing back toward Alimos Marina.

Afternoon: Stop at Agia Marina, Aegina for a visit to the striking Temple of Aphaia — a jewel of ancient Greek architecture. Grab any last-minute souvenirs.

Evening: Return to Alimos.

Optional additional cost: group excursion to Cape Sounion’s Temple of Poseidon for a breathtaking sunset dinner (weather and group vote permitting).

Late Night: Pack up and toast to an unforgettable week!

Day 8: Farewell

Morning: Coffee, hugs, and farewells to our fantastic skipper Babis, hostess Vicky, and our beloved catamaran home.
